STEICOmulti CAP is a specialised, vapour-permeable, self-adhesive film designed to protect timber components from the elements during construction. Unlike a standard breather membrane that you staple on, this is a peel-and-stick solution that bonds directly to the wood, providing an immediate, slip-resistant, and watertight seal. STEICOmulti CAP is a heavy-duty, self-adhesive weather protection membrane. It’s essentially the raincoat for timber elements (like CLT or floor cassettes) during the vulnerable stages of a build.
CHARCTERISTICS
- It prevents water from tracking underneath the membrane—a common issue with traditionally fixed wraps. If a small tear occurs, the water stays localised rather than spreading across the entire timber deck.
- It allows the timber to breathe. While it keeps liquid water out, it allows moisture vapour to escape, preventing the greenhouse effect that causes rot in trapped timber.
- The top surface is engineered to be slip-resistant even when wet, which is vital for teams walking across floor cassettes or roof decks during a British drizzle.
- t is designed to be left exposed for up to 3 months, giving you a massive window of protection before the final roof or cladding is installed.
- It is often transparent enough to allow pencil marks or layout lines on the timber beneath to remain visible, saving time for the follow-on trades.
APPLICATION
- Mass Timber (CLT) Protection: Applied to the top of Cross Laminated Timber walls and floors to keep the wood pristine and dry during the structural assembly.
- Floor Cassettes: Protecting pre-fabricated floor units from rain before the building is made watertight.
- Weatherproofing Joints: Used to seal the junctions between large timber panels or elements.
